When we were in Italy a few years ago covered knees and shoulders seemed to be the norm. Is the dress code similar in Spain? So far I have not been able to find that information and want to make sure we pack accordingly! Thanks.
Expect the same in Spain. We were there in April. I had heard the Cathedral in Barcelona enforces the same dress code. We saw a sign, at the entrance, that showed shoulders, knees and midriffs must be covered (never saw a sign in Italy). I can't say about everywhere else in Spain, we never saw a sign but it was too cold to want to wear shorts anyway.
It is strictly a matter of respect and decorum regardless of the country. It is not a Disneyland reproduction or the beach. It is church most likely being currently used by the local residents for religious purposes. Be considerate. And turn the flash on your camera off.
