Would someone please explain what PREMs tickets are? I do know they are less expensive but would we be sacrificing comfort level on the train?
PREM is usually short for Premium. What website are you looking at? In general, discounted tickets on trains don't sacrifice comfort on the train as all 1st class or 2nd class seats are alike. Discounted tickets are usually part of special promotions. Many come with restrictions such as non-refundable or inability to change.
I was looking at SNCF France and couldn't quite figure out what Prem meant other than cheaper in price. So thanks for clearing that up.
PREM'S sold on the SNCF site are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. They can only be booked online (booking allowed up to 90 days in advance) and sell out fast. Depending upon seat availability, you can buy them in either 2nd or 1st class.
