Four of us are doing the RS Paris tour. We are planning to arrive three days early. We are thinking of renting a car at the airport and going to Mont St. Michel, spend the night, head back seeing Normandy and Giverny. Is this doable and where should we stay the second night? We were thinking of returning the car at CDG and heading into Paris to make the introduction meeting. Is this realistic? Thanks for all the help.
After being on a plane for 8 hrs and then driving the four hours to MSM you might be be totally worn out by the time you got there.
Bayeux is a good base to see both MSM and the D-Day beaches, with or without a car. If you'd rather not have a car, take the train from Paris (St Lazare station) to Bayeux where there are bus tours available to both locations. If you prefer a car, either rent from the airport or, if you want to avoid the traffic around Paris, take the train to Caen & rent it there.
