Does anyone know if you are allowed to take your backpack into the museum or are you forced to check it? Thanks for helping out!

I have a mini backpack that i use as a purse, and had to check it in. But... I saw a ton of people who had the same day pack and kept theirs. It depends on the guard and what entrance. We entered thru the garden, which was less crowded.
