Potsdam - Another Good Reason to Visit Berlin

If you have plans to visit Berlin, make sure you set aside a day to go to Potsdam. The palace is stunning, the park that it sits in is filled with amazing constructions (my favorite was the Chinese teahouse), and the town of Potsdam itself just begs to be explored. The Dutch quarter was very interesting and there were so many streets lined with unique little stores and cafes. I keep telling myself that I will go and spend a day or two just in Potsdam.

The article is about Potsdam being #8 on the UNESCO worlds list.

Good suggestion, Jo. We spent half a day in Potsdam a few years ago, wish we had more time to spend there. It's a great town to rent bikes in.

We will be in Berlin in March. How far is Potsdam by car?

No idea. Most people take the train. We went there with a walking tour company. I think it was about a half hour ride? Maybe more? Look on a map to get a good idea.

I think it would be a good trip anytime of year. We took the s bahn from Berlin to Potsdam and joined a tour at the train station. The guide was informative. My wifes family was originally from Potsdam so we had to go there.

I went to Potsdam this past summer, it is a beautiful palace and park. I didn't go into any of the buildings, I just walked the park. This is my preference, and please go in if you want.

Here is a suggestion: take the regional train from Zoo Station to the last stop, Park Sansoussi, then walk back through the park to the main train station, the S bahn. This way, you only have to walk through the park in one direction, not back and forth.
