I have a week in Portugal this Oct. Anyone have suggestions on where to go and what to see? I'm more into the out of the way places and doing some hiking. Thanks, RICH
There are hill towns along the Portuguese/Spanish border that are "out of the way" of most tourists. Many of these once functioned as defensive positions against invaders. The town of Marvao, for example, still has the remains of a fortress. You'd probably need a car to get into the area, but hiking opportunities abound once you get there. Good luck.
Hi Rich,
I'd consider a few days in southern Portugal--base in Salema and then a few days in Lisbon. You can take a bus between the two cities.
