I am looking for a clean, comfortable room for two nights at a beach town on the Algarve. It doesn't matter to me which one so much as accessibility to the beach and reasonable price.
We will be taking the bus down from Lisbon the morning of 9/18, and afterwards taking bus or train to Seville, Spain (any tips on that, also?)

Ruth...there's no train linking the Algarve and Sevilla, unless you want to go back thru Lisbon and Madrid! So bus it is. Portuguese bus line EVA offers service from Lagos and Faro, in partnership with the Spanish company, Damas.

I took the train-bus combo down from Lisbon to Sagres in the Algarve in 2007. I had no reservation (couldn't find much available on-line at a cheap price) but was approached by a lady about a quarto when I got there. I stayed 2 nights at 15 euros per night. There were lots of other quartos in town, too. Once you choose an Algarve beach town, there may be similar quartos available.
Loved Le Mare in Salema as well- quiet, sleepy place RS refers this little place in his Portugal book and there are buses that leave from Lagos or Sagres.
