My husband and I will be travelling to The Algarve region in October (arrive the 17th, leave the 24th). Most of the group (28 of 32 people) will be spending 4 days golfing. Since I won't be golfing, I wanted to know if anyone knows of any daytrips or walking tours that I would be able to take on my own that are worthwhile. This is the first time I have not planned all my own activities and itinerary and I am at a loss (not used to staying in one place for so long). I love doing hikes and visiting smaller towns, I don't mind museums but don't want to spend everyday in one. I would love any suggestions of things to do in the area or things that aren't too far away as I will have to rely on public transportation. Thanks
darlene You do not mention where in the Algarve you will be staying.
buses run between the small towns, Lagos, Salema etc. and even to the end Sagre ( good day can be spent there ) Check out RS book on Portugal and this area- most informative. We had a car so was easy to get around. Went up into the back hills to explore the cork industry- also some of the smaller towns are fishing villages and perhaps you can arrange to go on a boat for the day.
Sorry about that, we will be staying in Albufeira.
