My cousin and I will be staying in Pontresina for 3 nights. We are wondering if we should stay an extra night in Pontresina or an extra night in Zurich (currently staying 2 nights). The other possibility is staying one night somewhere between those 2 cities. Hotel suggestions are welcome. We are traveling in March. Thanks

I would suggest visiting Lucerne for the extra day and night. Its less than an hour by train from Zurich and very pitureque. Much more scenic than Zurich. You could also add another day to lucerne for a trip on the lake and up the mountain

Cindy, I'd also recommend making a stop in Lucerne. It's a beautiful city and there are some interesting sights there. Be sure to see the famous "Lion of Lucerne", which Mark Twain called "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world." I found the Museum of Transport extremely interesting also. I admit that it's been a few years since I've been to Pontresina but I loved it! I'd spend an extra night there - especially if you enjoy walking/hiking though I'm not sure what the weather will be like in March! There are so many many great trails! There are also nice towns nearby to explore by train - you can even take the train into Italy from there! Depends on your budget for hotels but I spent 10 nights at Hotel La Collina. It was great!
