What is the difference between the 2 round prong adapter with large pins and the one with small pins. I cannot tell from the pictures which is the correct one for Spain?
Also, tips for doing laundry in Madrid? I am not into the wash in the sink routine.
Anne, Regarding the Plug Adapters, either size pins should work in Spain. If you haven't purchased one yet, have a look at the #EA-351D on the Magellans website. Regarding laundry, I'd suggest asking the staff at your Hotel. They will have information on any laundromats in the area, or may provide a laundry service. Happy travels!
Some counties in Europe use the modified "Schuko" plug, with ~3/16 diam pins. Several counties (Italy and Switzerland) have their own plugs with ~5/32 diam pins. The Europlug adapter, with two 5/32" pins, will fit in any of them.
Three years ago we used a small public laundry near the Atocha station and the Prado. I think we saw it while walking around the area. It was very crowded with only guys, no women, doing their laundry. We were allowed to do it ourselves and we dried our things just to the "European" dry level so that we didn't interrupt the locals who were there. Our definition of European dry is still slightly damp in the waist, pockets, etc. It's way better than using a sink and dripping, but not as dry as you might be used to. It is the level of dryness we usually got when we left our things at a laundry for them to be done for us. If you are not staying in that area of town, I'm sure there are many other laundry facilites in Madrid, although they may not be in the more touristy areas.
European dry works great for us! Thanks for the tips!
