I will be there for two weeks this summer. Please tell me about the town, places to visit, day trips, tips, etc. Many thanks.
A great website for all Vence and all the surrounding
area is Beyond the French Riviera
What does "well discovered" mean? Is it too touristy? Thanks.
Thank you for all of the information!
Hi, I was just in Vence about a week ago, actually, as a day trip out of Nice. It's got a rather small but nicely spindly old town. The real reason I wanted to go was to show my sister a place like this, and it was perfect. We didn't go into the churches and things because we were kind of bored with churches at this point in our trip. Although there were men playing and bocce and laughter inside the buildings, the only people I saw outside were obviously tourists--but it was midday (what do you call the siesta in France?). Anywho, you can go to Nice, 1 euro each way by bus. I actually really loved the bus ride, looking out at the little houses tucked into the hills. We went to Villefranche, from the book, one day, and it was completely lovely--happy, smiling, gorgeous; I would go there when the weather is nice. Have fun in Vence, I'm jealous.
All of that area is very 'discovered' LOL! And has
been for many years.
I don't think you can find a village withing 30 miles
of Nice that isn't somewhat 'touristy' and Vence would certainly fit that description....but that's
not to say it isn't well-worth staying in. There's
so much to do around the vicinity and the weather is
wonderful - you'll love it!
