We will be in Paris in December and would like to visit Strasbourg, taking the TGV there. Please suggest an itinerary for our one day there.
Thank you!
Hi Jenny,
Many French citizens consider Strasbourg the best place in their country to find fine cuisine. Strasbourg is famous for a restaurant institution called the "Winstub", a word which is derived from nearby German. It compares roughly with the German term "Wein Stube" [wine tavern]. There are many Winstubs in Strasbourg. You can get a handle on some of them by getting www.Google.com on your screen and typing into the search box: Winstub, Strasbourg, France. We recommend you arrange to have at least one meal in a Strasbourg Winstub. Bon Voyage / Gute Reise! P.
Jenny,
It doesn't hurt that you will be there during the Christmas Market! You may find yourself spending most of the day wandering through that. I highly recommend one of the boat tours and eating there. I especially like Restaurant Au Pont St. Martin. The Bishops Palace is great for a museum visit and of course, the Cathedral with its clock.
Jenny -
Strasbourg has one of the most famous Christmas markets in Europe. I recommend part of the day their sipping hot wine.
:o)
Don't forget the Lafayette Department Store.
