My husband and I are making a "possibility" list of locations to visit this fall for 10-14 days. While we've been to central areas in Austria, we haven't explored the western provinces. I've been reading about the Rhine Valley - between Switzerland and Austria, the Cheese Road , and the mountains around St. Anton. Are there any experiences or locations that you enjoyed and would like to share?
Try the entire Mt. Arlberg region (Lech, Zürs, St. Anton), the Montafon valley, www.brand.at (Brand Valley) if you're more into smaller and more relaxing, then of course the entire Lake Constance area (friedrichshafen.de). The view of the Alpine panorama is best enjoyed from the German coast, must-see cities: Lindau, Friedrichshafen, Meersburg, Mainau island, Konstanz. Also visit St. Gallen (Switzerland) when in the area. The upper rhine river valley is pretty boring. I mean, Liechtenstein is the main attraction there, so that should say it all. But the Via Mala gorge is worthwhile. You could also visit Davos. On the Austrian side do the Silvretta road drive from the Montafon valley to Northern Italy!
