Please help with Paris hotel dilemna

We will be in Paris at the end of September. The type of hotel that we like is the Hotel Muguet-loved our stay and felt it was a special place which I feel is part of the whole experience of where we are. That being said, I'd like to try the 6th or 5th. If we could plunk the Muguet in that area at the 135 euro rate that I've been quoted, I'd be ecstatic. We've never had the chance to experience the Latin Quarter or the St. Germain des Pres area, so want to do that this time, but need some help. I'm so confused when I look on Trip Advisor and see why some like the rue Mouffetard area and some the Luxembourg Garden area, some the St. Sulpice area. I have a room booked at the Hotel Michelet Odeon but I'm still looking. Will I be disappointed? What would be a better choice? I thought of the Hotel Bonaparte, Grand Hotel des Balcons, and the one I couldn't get all the nights at - the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. The ones I would REALLY like to stay in are a lot more expensive. Our stay isn't long enough for an apartment and I don't want to stay in one, just so you know ahead of time. I also don't want to stay in the Marais (maybe next time. The other area I would love to stay is Ille Saint Louis, but prices are high. Another was the Hospitel Hotel Dieu by the Notre Dame, but they were booked solid. (I was intrigued by the whole concept of a working hospital right next to Notre Dame.)
Please help!

I haven't stayed in the Odeon but the location is great...only one block from the Original Shakespear and Company bookstore (Sylvia Beach's little bookstore where all the Americans and Brits living in Paris during the 20's congregated...Sylvia was James Joyce's primary publisher during the 20's when his work was banned in most of the West. Don't agonize over your choice...from the reviews on tripadvisor, it should be perfectly nice...and you are right between the St Germain de Pres area the Jardin de Luxemburg, close enough to walk to everything on either the left bank or right bank, but also right next to metro Odeon.

Have you considered the Hotel Minerve? I have not stayed there but it gets good comments (see tripadvor.com) here and it is in the area that you are seeking. Price seems to be right although the rooms are small.

Sue, how long is your stay?

I know you said no to apartments, but we got a great one, near the area we wanted to stay (1 block from Notre Dame), and at the price we could afford (110 euros a night).

In our last visit to Paris 2 years ago, we stayed at an "OK" hotel but it was what we could afford at the time, and it was not in the area we wanted. We wanted somewhere closer to the heart of the city.

With our weak dollar, its hard to pick a place we want and still be able to afford it.
