Hi guys,
We're taking my 4 yr old daughter to Spain and Portugal in late Septmeber. We'll be flying into Madrid and I would like to be able to take her to a playground after a short nap...preferably at a park. I though I read somewhere that there is a playground in the Retiro Park, but now I can't find any mention of one. Any suggestions of a good place for her to play and me to recuperate from a flight from SFO is appreciated.
Thanks!
Many parks and plazas will have basic playground equipment. (Slide, swings, etc.) Probably the easiest way to do things will be to ask anybody walking a dog or pushing a stroller near your hotel where to find the nearest park. Unless you are right next to the Retiro, a four year old probably won't notice the difference, but will get impatient with the travel time to the park. "¿Donde está un parque cercano para que juegue (pronounced way-gay) mi niña?" is the easiest way to ask. Spain is very family oriented, and the society, in general, includes children to a greater extent than in the US. My guess is that you will really enjoy the time you spend with your daughter exploring a new country.
