There are a number of family-oriented hostels that you should take a look at. Despite that, remember that hostels often charge per bed and sometimes a hotel room is cheapest. Do you have set ideas for the specific places that you wanted to go to, and for how long?

Keisha,

sorry, but what do you mean that your spending budget is $10,000? Does that include airfare over and back? That could quickly total $5,000 or more.

I spend less than $100 per person in Europe, but I am experienced. You could easily spend $500 per day, which would only leave you with about 10 days.

Can you give us more specifics?

With a family I find using vacation appartments for rent works out best - more room and less money. Here is a good website:

Hostels usually add up in price when you have to pay per person. However, in Germany some hostels are located in ancient castles. Your boys would love that and it can be a great base to explore some culture. A good one is Burg Stahleck in Bacharach overlooking the Rhine:

Does your budget include airfare? That could be quite tight and I'd strongly recommend to fly out during off-season.

Keisha, weren't you on here a few months back asking for suggestions and hints on where to go, what to do with your 4 boys, what cities to visit, where to sleep, etc. What did you do with all that information? It sounded like you almost had your trip planned out.
