Places to visit in Switzerland in July?

My husband and I, along with our 3 teenagers, will be coming to Switzerland in July for 2 weeks. We plan on flying in and out of Zurich, and visiting the Berner Oberland area for at least 5-6 days. Any suggestions for where else we should spend our time for the duration of our stay?

I would definately include a two or three day stay in Zermatt. It is so beuatiful. Many wonderful hikes( that anyone could do) and the village itself is mostly pedestrian( only locals are allowed cars, and they used to be only electric carts) . There really are the cute little chalets with flower boxes all over the place, and goats are run through the village streets every night . You can take a cog train up to the Gornergrat and look right into Italy,, it is really a fairy tale.

It is also very very expensive, but , worth it.

If you are in the Berner Oberland, be sure to spend some time at the Open Air Museum Ballenberg. It's a tour of Swiss history as told by buildings and the farmlife that takes place around them. Kind of like Old Williamsburg.

We also liked Lucerne very much (and took the ferry ride east) then through lovely Appenzell and to the Churfürsten Mts. Teenagers would love to ride the summer toboggans, so don't miss that opportunity. There is one great one near the Walensee in Filzbach. You take chair lifts up, individual toboggans down, and finish at the valley by riding modified scooters. A hoot!

We took our teeenage son several times to Switzerland. He enjoyed staying in Montreux and visiting Chillion Castle. We also visited visited Gruyeres. It is a small town that is on a hill (cheese factory at bottom of the hill). Walk past pastures of cows with bells...awesome. Gruyeres has a castle and the H.R. Giger Museum (he created the aliens for the Alien movies starting Sigorney Weaver). On the same day we visited Broc and the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory. He also enjoyed visiting Lausanne and the Olympic Museum.

I second the suggestion to visit Lucerne. And don't miss the transport museum there. It's simply amazing and HUGE.

I second the recommendation on Montreux. My husband and I took the choolate train from Montreux to Broc. They stop in Grueye and see how they make cheese and then we toured the castle and had had lunch in town. We then headed to Broc for a choclate factory tour. We took the train from Grindelwald for a day trip. It was a very long day and we had to change trains about 4 times. Most of it was covered by our swiss pass. We did pay extra for the choclate train. I loved the area and would of liked to spent more time there.

I highly recommend Meiringen and a walk through the Aareschlucht (Aare river slot canyon). Also, Reichenbach Falls are gorgeous as is the view from Planplatten.
