Hi, I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on where to stay just outside of Vienna that may be cheaper? I am traveling with my husband and three children and like to rent houses/apartments. (Aug 18-21)Thank you. Heather

Do you only want to stay in a house/apartment? If not, I know of a pension on the outskirts of Vienna. If you want info for that type of lodging, then send me a personal message.

We have stayed in Floridsdorf which is across the Danube from the main city. We have stayed at Ilona Kaminek's apartments there. Very nice apartments at a very good price. You are only about 10-15 minutes from city center via the S-Bahn. http://www.apartment.at/apartment/193 If you want something closer that is within about 5 min by U-Bahn try Beatrix Walkner's Apartments Augarten. We stayed there over Christmas and loved it. U-bahn station is right out in front of the building so you can be in City Center very quick.
http://www.apartment.at/eng/apartment/66 Both landlady's apartments are an excellent deal for Vienna. There are no hidden costs involved such as cleaning fees, deposits, etc. Beatriix and Ilona both speak English and are very easy to deal with.
