Places to stay on Rue Cler in Paris over Christmas

We are spending Christmas in Paris and usually stay at a great little hotel in the Latin Quarter, which we love. However, we are curious about staying on Rue Cler (it looks so nice on Rick's show). Wondering too if it will be more "homey" on Christmas. Has anyone stayed here or can anyone recommend a good place for us? We are looking for a good 2 star place. Thanks!!

Laurie,

I've never been there at Christmas, but you might have a look at Hotel Duquesne Eiffel or Grand Hotel Leveque to see if either of those appeal to you.

The Duquesne Eiffel is a few blocks away from Rue Cler, but in the same area. The Hotel Leveque is right on Rue Cler. Both are within easy walking distance to the Metro (Ecole Militaire) and close to the Eiffel Tower.

As I haven't been there at that time of year, I'm not sure what the situation will be with shops or restaurants.

Happy travels!

We spent the holidays last year in Paris. Although we stayed in Rue Cler our first trip we decided to rent an apartment in the Latin Quarter (5th) for that trip. We did go to Rue Cler to show our daughter. It was nicely lit up. I don't know if it was any more "homey" than where we stayed in the Latin Quarter. I personally found the Latin Quarter to be much more convenient to the sites than Rue Cler is. Have fun!

If it's not too late to rent an apartment that would be my first choice...a hotel room at Christmas doesn't strike me as "homey"...And sorry, that's opinion, not practical advice...But what's your budget?..Paris is making a big effort to start, increase, bed and breakfasts rentals.

I've stayed on Rue Cler at the Grand Hotel Leveque twice around Christmas time. I don't know that it was any more homey than any other market street in Paris, but I did like that it was convenient to a lot of things and the Leveque is a nice place to stay.
