We are looking for a non-modern looking hotel, east of Baden-Baden in the northern part of the Black Forest. We want to avoid big city areas as well.
Any suggestions?

How about this (www.schwanen-post.de). You can get to Alpirsbach by going east from Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden, or south from Stuttgart, to Freudenstadt, then continue south. You might also stay at one of the hotels around the town square in Freudenstadt (www.freudenstadt.de). I stayed at Hotel Ochsen; it was nice and not too modern. Lastly, I don't have any hotels in mind, but Bad Wildbad (www.bad-wildbad.de) is very picturesque.
