I'm looking at places for one night in May in either Reims or Verdun. There are 5 of us. Several of Rick's places are booked. I've put in 2 rooms on several of the search sites and they say no availability. There was one room at the hotel Tigre in Verdun but it got awful reviews. Christine

Try some of the vacation rental sites, like HomeAway, VRBO, etc. I am been perusing them lately and have noticed that are quire a few that offer one night stays. If your destination is Verdun, you could stay to the east in Sedan. It is a drive, but not as far as Reims from the battlefield. You could stop at Reims, see the cathedral and go on to the hotel. Then see Verdun in the morning. We drove from Reims to Verdun last year and it a good hour and a half drive on the autoroute. If you take back roads (where you see a lot more of the battelfield), it can take 2 to 2.5. From Sedan, it is 40 minutes, if that.
