We will be in Brugge for a few days the end of September and I would like some recommendations on places to stay. It will be my husband, myself, and my 9 yo daughter. I would prefer someplace that is within walking distance to most sights. Any other advice would be appreciated as well. Thanks
Jen
In 2002 I stayed at B&B Dieltiens, which I see 11 years later is still recommended in Ricks' book http://users.skynet.be/dieltiens/en/engast/frame.htm. This was a great place, and the only potential problem is the steep stairs and lack of elevator. I'd DEFINITELY stay here again. If they're full, RS has lots of other B&B's listed, and he emphasizes that in Bruges, they're much better value than hotels. There's lots of central places, so there's no need to stay outside the center.
We liked Hotel Patritius - the location is great and it's very comfortable and clean.
Jennifer, I stayed at the Hotel Adornes in May and highly recommend it. The location was great, short walking distance to the market square, shops, and restaurants. The rooms were clean and large and breakfast was very good. Free wifi in the lobby and rec room. The staff was super helpful and made our visit very enjoyable. Loved Brugges!
We haven't stayed here yet, but we are booked at the Dieltens B&B this fall. Annemie has been great about answering my emails in a very timely manner, and the B&B is very centrally located with breakfast included. http://www.bedandbreakfastbruges.be/
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza and loved it.
I had a good stay at this 3-star hotel listed in Rick's excellent guidebook for the region: http://www.hotelterreien.be/eng/index.php Having said that, the end of September is when the summer season starts to tail off so you might get luck and be able to snag a discounted rate at the five-star Kempinski Hotel or Crowne Plaza. Doesn't hurt to check....
We stayed at the Hotel Prinsenhof last year. It is a beautiful hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. I highly recommend it. http://www.prinsenhof.com/
Hello Jennifer
We stayed at Hotel de Orangerie in Brugge and we loved it. Very quaint and comfortable. Staff was very nice. I would stay there again!
We visited Brugge this summer and stayed at the Ibis located near the train station. Small, convenient and close to the city center.
Another vote for Dieltiens. Koen and Annemie are great, wonderful house, great location (not really a bad location in Brugge), heroic B&B operators and interesting people to boot.
Thanks for the great recommendations. Several of the suggestions looked great but were already booked for our timeframe. We ended up getting reservations at Hotel Patritius. Thanks again,
Jen
I think you'll be pleased with that choice. We stayed at the Hotel Patritius a few years ago and loved it.
That's great to hear, Patricia. We are really looking forward to it! Jen
Jennifer, I would highly recommend Hotel Adornes (Travellers' Choice® 2013 Winner Best Service) in Bruges. It's in a fantastic location right on a canal and it's a exceptional hotel. As I recall, they offer free Bikes, so if you want to take the short ride to Damme and stop in one of the Pubs for a "Triple", it's easy to do. Happy travels!
