We are heading to Bern, Switzerland in May. Can someone please suggest a place to stay that is not too expensive? Thanks!

You might try backpackers hostels - we stayed in one in Lausanne and it was a good deal. There are three listed for Berne. Check out their website (below) - Switzerland is just pricey, so even hostels seem high, but these are independent hostels and generally good deals.
