Do you have any recommendations for places to stay in Amsterdam. We will be there 2 nights and would like to be within walking distance to major sights. Any experience with house boats? Thank you.

No experience with houseboats, but we stayed at Hanna Penso southeast part of AMS. Great location, Great hostess, easy access to tram, you won't be disappointed. Check out the reviews on trip advisor. Have a great trip :) !

With just two days I wouldn't rent a house boat. Do you have a price range in mind. Better able to help.

I've stayed at B&B Bavaria 3 or 4 times now,about 10 minutes from Anne Frank house,easy walk. It's in a residential apartment building which is nice.
