Can anyone give me some hotels to stay around price of $150 to $250 or Bed & Breakfast places at least 15 minutes from main train station. Not near red light district. Tried Boogaard' s B&B and Herengrach 21 B&B no response. Would like to stay around canal area if not to far from train station. Really like some help. Been looking at Steve Ricks book already.

I've stayed at the Hampshire Inn Prinsengracht. It's in the Southern Canal Belt. Tram is down the street to the right. It has an elevator and the staff were great.
I also stayed at Hotel Alexander. It's a five minute walk to Leidseplein and near the 1, 2, and 5 tram. It also has an elevator.
Amsterdam is a weekend destination for many Europeans. The good, cheaper rooms fill FAST! Hope this helps.

I stayed at the NH Schiller in November, 20 minutes tops walking from the Central Station. Tram stops across the street from the Hotel and the one going to Central Station stops about 4x/hr. I was there for business so I wanted to be able to get to Central Station (was commuting to Hilversum every day) but also wanted to be near the nightlife.
Pretty sure I paid about $200 for a single, close to everything. A little dated but great service! If you stay there, try the Dutch Indonesian restaurant next door.

Thank-you all for your hotel suggestions!! All of your places were booked, so they must be great! hahaha. But I lucked out and the sites gave other hotels, I went with one, Hotel Estherea. Seemed like a good price, and location. Read reviews on it and liked looks of it. So, will find out in June. Thanks for all of you alls help! jhenney
