Hi. Going to Bavaria for four nights @ end of May. Any suggestions of places to stay in Bavaria/Tirol? Rick recommends Reutte. Anyone have a favorite place there?
Thanks,
Amanda

I have never stayed in Pfronten, but I have been through it five times and plan to stay there eventually. It is a short bus ride to Füssen; I think there are actually more bus connections from Pfronten to Füssen than from Reutte. Walkenburg, a castle ruins and the planned site of Ludwig's next castle, is a short hike from there.
Hi Amanda,
We stayed twice (in '01 and '03) at the Hotel zum Hechten in Fuessen. Nice place right on a pedestrian street, excellent buffet breakfast, good restaurant and really nice views of FUESSEN castle from the room balconies.

We stayled in Pinswang which is between Reutete and Fussen. We stayed at Gutshof Zum Schluxen (google it and their web site comes up) We had a spacious room and it is in a quiet farm area. It also has an excellent restaurant. You can walk to the castles from there, or it is a quick drive.
Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. This helps.
I stayed at the Gasthof zum Schluxen. It was a really nice hotel. The staff were decent, breakfast choices were good and the rooms were excellent.
It was pricier than my normal accomodation.
I booked it especially for our DD who was 7 at the time. It was advertised as a working farm and I thought she would enjoy seeing the animals.
The kids enjoyed feeding the reindeer through a chain link fence but the few other animals there were locked up and the proprietors didn't want the kids to get near them.
Since I really don't need premium accomodations, I'd choose something less pricey next time.
