We are looking for a budget hotel or BB's that is clean and in or near the Latin Quarter? Thanks .....
Cluny Sorbonne.
Lilly, Rick's guide books have several good suggestions.
Thanks Ed and Jim....will check it out :)
In the Latin Quarter the prices are often expensive. I mean, the location is a major point for the rates of a hotel. Maybe you should consider other areas around the Latin Quarter, like the Marais, or Montparnasse.
Cheap areas - around Montmartre you have a lot cheap hotels, it's a nice area, it's just not As expensive as other districts. The hotel Batignolles Villiers - www.hotel-paris-batignolles.com is in the 17th district, north of Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. You can also look on explorotel.com
I usually find the best deals there!
Thank you all for your wonderful advice and help....I'm just about done with the booking of this trip but need help with my return to Rome from Barcelona. Best way.... Fly or train? Thanks again :)
I second the post that there aren't a lot of 'cheap" hotels in the Latin Quarter. But you might want to pay a little more to stay there. You can walk to just about anywhere, see Notre Dame at night, take a quick stop in St Chappelle on a sunny day. There are also a lot of nice places to eat and it is everthing from Gyros to Chinese food, to nice Frendh bistros. Also, it is the best for cafe sittinglots to see. Here is a nice place we have stayed a couple of times. It is clean and well situated about 1 block from the river. De Notre Dame ·

I went from Barcelona to Rome last May and flew on Vueling. Flight took about 2 hours I think. Nice comfortable airlplane and pretty inexpensive when I booked.
I always have to put in a plug for the hotel we ALWAYS stay at in Paris. It's not in the Latin Quarter, but it's great - inexpensive, cheerful, friendly, spotlessly clean, and in the Passy neighborhood, which is not touristy. It's l'Hotel Hameau, 48 rue de Passy and very worth checking out. The neighborhood overlooks Trocadero and Eiffel Tower... we always start the day with the 10 minute walk down to the Seine, and either catch the 72 towards the Louvre, Hotel de Ville, etc., or way across the bridge to the Eiffel Tower and start from there.
