Pine Cone Steam Train

I have looked on line but I am not finding the right spot for information. The Pine Cone steam train seems to run in summers on Sundays in the area near Nice in Provence. Can anyone tell me when it starts operating? I will be in the area next May and it looks like a neat ride.

The official site is at http://www.gecp.asso.fr, in French only apart from the very front page. They have not put the dates for next year up, but this year the first was Sunday 16th May, so somewhere around that time would be a good bet. You do need to book in advance, I tried to take it last year but found that all spaces were reserved on the day. The train runs between Puget-Thenniers and Annot - if you are coming from Nice there is a diesel train that connects with it. Note that this is not the normal Nice station but the separate narrow-gauge station a bit further north. The whole trip has some pretty spectacular scenery as the line runs through the gorge of the River Var.

Thank you Philip.....my French is not very good, ok almost non existent. May 16 is about the time we are leaving the area....but maybe next year they will start sooner. I will keep checking their website for the 2011 information. I have heard the scenery is very impressive. Thanks for the information.
