Pilgrimage routes

Hello. My friend and I are starting to think about next summer's travel plans. Last year we walked part of the Camino de Santiago and loved it. We are considering the idea of going back to walk the part we didn't walk before. But are also in considering other pilgrimage routes. Of course I will be getting online to do some research but I thought I would toss it out here to see if anyone has first-hand experience or personal recommendations. Anything with extreme terrain would probably not be suitable for us. Any comments are appreciated! Thanks. PS -- we would have approximately 6 - 8 days to walk.

Hi Christy, I walked the Camino in 2010 from St Jean to Santiago. I did some research because I had and have similar thoughts as you, that is I loved walking the Camino and not a day goes by that I don't think about it. Since you've done the Camino I would assume you did the Camino Frances and are aware of the other routes that go to Santiago, the Camino Madrid, Camino Norte, Camino Portugese, I haven't done any of those but they may be an option. Another pilgrimmage route that I found in my research was the Via Francigena, it is a route that goes to Rome, technically it starts in Canterbury but a large part runs through France and obviously Italy. I haven't done that one either but I do have some links to websites that you can look at to see if it will work. Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to contact me. http://www.francigena-international.org http://www.viafrancigena.com/fra_fr_e.htm On the second website all the information is on the icons on the right side of the page.

The pilgrim church of Scherpenheuvel is in northern Belgium, so the terrain is relatively flat. I don't think there's a set route like the Camino, because I've seen people walking there from all directions. Here's the only suggested route I could find on the internet: http://www.routeyou.com/route/view/246424/wandelroute-te-voet-naar-scherpenheuvel.nl I would estimate this route as about 1-2 days of walking, depending on your speed. There's also St. Olaf's Way from Oslo to Trondheim, although I don't know too much about this one.
