Pilatus + Schilthorn?

I did the Pilatus trip today... how does Schilthorn compare? Trying to decide if I should do both, or if the experience will be similar enough that I should do something else with my time and money.

Pilatus and Schiltorn are kind of similar but Schiltorn it at a much higher elevation. You might want to consider doing the Jungfrau instead. The Jungfrau is more of a glacier experience, that you won't find at either of the other two attractions.

Hi Joanna,
I just returned from Muerren, Switzerland and went to the Schilthorn and the Jungfrau. I found both excursions very rewarding but found the Jungfrau far
more exciting and scenic. If you have the opportunity you should definitely do the Jungfrau.

I also just returned from Switzerland and did both the Jungfrau and Schilthorn. I also agree that Junfraujoch is the more exciting trip. Just the trip alone even before you get to the top is spectacular. But, be sure to check the weather. If the mountains are socked in, it would be a waste of a lot of money...

Thanks for the help! I ended up doing Jungfraujoch, and was duly impressed. Walking on a glacier was neat. It was definitely a long trip up and back, though, and packed with tourists - I'm glad I got to see it, but at the same time I probably would have been just as happy hiking up Schilthorn with my fellow hostelers.

And honestly, after four days in Luzern and hiking in the Berner Oberland (and paragliding from Murren... amaying), I came close to my maximum of being impressed by spectacular scenery.

Joanna,

I also went Paragliding from Murren, and it was an amazing experience! Reaching the edge of the cliff and looking 3000 ft. straight down was incredible. I got some great photos of Gimmelwald while "flying". Did you opt for the photos taken with the aluminum bracket? As I recall, the only difficult part was landing as we had to try and avoid the "land mines" left by the cows.

Cheers!
