Here you can see some pictures of Frankfurt covered in Snow, taken Saturday, Jan 30th, 2010: http://bit.ly/cgL6Uv
Good Morning Andreas
Thanks for the link. Looks like just the right amount of snow that makes it very picturesque. Time for another trip to Frankfurt is in order.
So why is it that pictures of snow always look better in someone else's town?
gary
Gary....because YOU don't have to shovel it!
If it was for me we could stop this entire snow winter wonderland icy windshields freezing experience starting tomorrow and turn over to nice mild sunny everything green and blossoming spring weather. A walk down by the river's embankment in Frankfurt can be as beautiful as doing the same in Paris - but at the moment I'm afraid of sudden polar bear attacks or that I might accidently step on a penguine baby...
What's the normal snowfall situation during the winter for the Frankfurt area? I had heard about a horrendous accident near Rostock (spelling?) and it sounded like alot of snow they got there. I see they're more north which probably explains it, but I'm guessing you must get some snow most winters?
Snow is a normal part of our lives where I have lived most of my life (Wisconsin & New Hampshire), so I usually don't panic much, but we're prepared for this in all respects. Ice - not so much and especially when it's both like the folks in Oklahoma got. Yuch!
But you're right, if we could figure out a way to enjoy it for a shirt time, take our pictures, make our snowmen and then let it go away, that would be nice.
Watch out for the polar bears!
Yup, hubby told me already - because this was the reason his plane home on Friday got delayed. And also that his luggage didn't make it onto the plane either. However, at least this time we'll get it back quicker. Got woken up this morning at 7.20 am (Sunday!) by Air Canada arranging for a drop-off later this morning ...
And yes, it's snowing here as well. And our snow shoveler (aka my daughter) is at an overnight party and not home till noon :-(
Our winters usually mean between 0° and 10°C, grey sky for months, lots of rain and maybe some snow on the tips of the nearby Taunus mountains, usually on the peak of Mt. Feldberg (which we can see from downtown Frankfurt). But this January so far has been quite unique or at least like no other month in the recent 20 years or so...
It has been snowing almost all day today, but not piling up very much. Looks really pretty and it covers the dirty, old snow. Thankfully, it is not that cold. Will see what tomorrow brings.
Wow! I can't believe all the snow!
These pictures were taken in the Taunus mountains, only a 30mins S-Bahn ride from downtown Frankfurt:http://www.fnp.de/winterbilder
Seeing the snow brings back wonderful memories of our three years living in Mainz: walking to work because of the snow, our english cockers tromping through it and skiing in Fulda. Enjoy it.
