Picasso comparative exhibit at 3 museums in Paris

The blockbuster Picasso exhibit at the Palais Royal (tickets best bought in advance for certain admit times), Louvre, and Musee D'Orsay was great. Runs through February, I believe.

The Musee D"Orsay part (comparing Manet's Petit dejeunner sur l'herbe)was the best, and needs no special ticket purchase and seems no more crowed than rest of this great museum. Louvre was good as well and need no special ticket, again only comparing one painting and Picasso's response to it.

Royal Palais, the "headliner" part of the 3 museum exhibit, was very crowded, not as organized, exhibitors overreached in the comparisons. I'd skip it.

Just in case anyone was considering going....

I really liked the exhibit at D'Orsay, it was really interesting and proved to me that Picasso was certifiably nuts!

Today's New York Times online edition has an article about these shows and an interesting slide show.

If you are a fan of Picasso i would suggest to NOT skip the expo of "Picasso et Ses Maitres". Yes, at the Louvre and D'Orsay you get to see more than just the Picassos, but at the expo in the Grand Palais you see many paintings that rarely leave Spain...and even though comparisons might be stretched..it was a chance to see works I wouldn't have otherwise seen. Reservations are recommended; however when we left at 5:00 pm there was no one in the "haven't yet bought a ticket " line. The only local complaint seemed to be that the 3 museums didn't organize a 3 for 1 deal. Also, please note that the expo is in the Grand Palais, not the Palais Royal (gardens, shopping/eating arcade, government offices).

I assume you know of the Picasso museum in the Marais? I thought it was among the best museum experiences ever.
