Since I have been asked repeatedly about the perfect hotel in Frankfurt that covers both low rates and close proximity to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) on the one hand and good location outside of the red light district on the other I figured I should post it on here as well: The IBIS Hotel Frankfurt Friedensbrücke (also refered to as IBIS Hotel Frankfurt Centrum) is a short two blocks walk from the train station down to the river. Some rooms overlook the river. There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk's distance including several with outside seating right on the embankments of the "Main" river. It's also just about a 20mins walk along the embankment to the heart of downtown and the more than 1,000 years old Emperors' Cathedral. There is a beautiful French riviera style garden (admission free) right next to the waterfront beer garden "Nizza" enroute from the hotel to the city center. And all rooms come with air conditioning.
