Gil - it's very clean, breakfast is good, and it's budget friendly. It is easily walkable from the train station - go out the back and take the catwalk over the tracks and then it's about two blocks. My husband and I have stayed in the main building with a bath/shower down the hall and it was fine. We also stayed in one of the units across the street which had an en suite bath and was more spacious. The garden is a lovely place for a bottle of wine and relaxing. The neighborhood itself is primarily residential with very little to do within an easy walk. You can walk to a grocery store and a deli. Otherwise for site seeing and to go to cafes/bars I would recommend the bus or taxis. We saved so much on the accomodations that a taxi to and from the old town each day was not a budget buster. Enjoy Salzburg -it is a delight. Don't miss the lake district - we particularly loved Lake Wolfgang near St. Gilgen.
