Passes for Versailles and Dachau

As I have noticed there are a variety of places to purchase pass for either of these and I'm wondering if anyone has an inside scoop into the best deals. Anyone?

For the best price on a Versailles ticket you purchase directly from their website, simple and no mark up. You can also use the Paris Museum pass for admittance and that can work out very well if you see enough other sites on the other days of your pass to make it worthwhile.

Dachau is free to enter; you only need a transit ticket to take the S-Bahn there. The Munich XXL day pass ticket (available from machines) covers the ride; if you already have passes for central Munich, you only need a supplemental ticket, since Dachau is outside this zone. Details are in Rick Steves Germany. Here's the Dachau official website: http://www.kz-gedenkstaette-dachau.de/
Information about fees (including parking prices) is in the Frequently Asked Questions. In general, the official website is the first place to go for tickets to almost any place; this way, you avoid unnecessary markups, and can be sure you are getting legitimate tickets. As you see, this is certainly true of Versailles and Dachau.

Absolutely agree, the Museum Pass is the way to go. You will avoid many long lines - you practically go right in.
You can buy the Museum Pass at many of the Metro stations. I agree you should evaluate how many of the museums it covers that you plan to visit, however being able to avoid the long lines is practically worth it regardless! You will not spend so much of your precious time waiting in long lines.

Okay, so it sounds like if I want to skip the lines I need to get a Paris Museum Pass not a ticket directly from the Versailles website. Or does purchasing a ticket for Versailles from their website allow me to skip the lines as well? Thank you for your help,
Greg

If you want to go on a Saturday, when the fountains are flowing in the gardens and classical music is playing, AND if you want to do ALL of Versailles (the chateau, the gardens, the Trianons, and Marie A's village - a full day), I'd suggest getting the Passport at an FNAC (music/ticket stores in multiple locations in Paris). Or you can buy tickets just for the chateau and gardens, also at the FNAC. I love going on Saturdays.

Both the Museum Pass and buying a ticket directly from the Versailles website will allow you to skip the TICKET PURCHASE line. However, you will still need to go through the SECURITY line no matter what. Have fun!
