parking in Sevilla

Where is the best safest place to park your car in Sevilla for the day?

There's a large modern underground parkade just west of the main downtown section, near the bullring. The main road that runs along the river changes its name a few times, but you'll find the entrance off the section called Paseo de Cristobal Colon. Go to maps.google.com and copy and paste these coordinates (37.386816, -6.000461) to find the entrance northbound. The cross street is Calle Adriano, and it's the first street past the bullring if you're driving north. The entrance for southbound traffic is right across the street. Look for white on blue parking signs labelled with a giant P and the locator "Cristobal Colon."

I parked on the street (after a long time searching) and my car was fine. Just be warned - trying to drive and park in any large Spanish city can be frustrating at best and nightmarish at worst. Streets are narrow and winding and difficult to identify, cars and pedestrians make up their own rules, and parking on the street is VERY hard to find. Your best bet is to find one of the public parking garages or lots around (look for the blue "P" sign). If you do park your car, make sure you don't leave anything in the open and take all valuables with you.

We parked our car where Norm is recommending. Our car was safe and out of the sun for a reasonable fee. The underground lot is easy to find and close to all the action. You'll be able to get in and out of Sevilla without driving through any of their narrow, winding streets. Also, if you have any problem with the automated machine (we did) there are attendants on duty to take payment.

Parking at the railway station is a good option and very easy - 15 - 17 euros for the day. There are other parking stations closer to the centre and if you are using a GPS, will be relatively easy to find, and are identified by a large blue P sign. We generally park in one on the edge of Santa Cruz but the spaces are very tight and depending on the size of your car and your parking ability (mine is not great!) I would tend to avoid it. Most parking stations have attendants and your belongings would be quite safe.
