We have 3-4 hours on our way from bruges to cdg to do a quick stop in Brussels .any suggestions on parking near a station that could get us relatively quickly to the center of the city? I have read that driving into Brussels would be a nightmare! Thanks
A few years ago, I tried something similar, only to find that the parking lots and garages near train stations outside of Brussels were filled with commuter cars by 9 AM. I agree with James, driving in Brussels is no worse than any other similarly sized European city, and nowhere as bad as, say, Paris. If you had to commute into Brussels by a certain time because of a job, that would be a nightmare, but as a tourist, you can come and go at your leisure. Just follow the signs to the parking garages on your way into the city, and follow the signs to the E40 on your way out.
Thank you, I had read in several places to avoid driving in this city at all costs. We will be arriving between 3 and 6 on a Wednesday , which I'm thinking will include rush hour
We drove into Brussels and arrived around 3:00 on a weekend. It was truly hideous. I would seriously not recommend it. I think driving in most large cities is pretty hellish, so saying that is no worse than other large cities is not very reassuring. You could look into driving to the airport and parking there. It's an easy train ride into the city.
