We are looking to take our kids to Paris this fall. They travel very well, but are only 8 and 7. Without them, we have stayed at the Grand Leveque and enjoyed it. But the last time was 4 years ago, and I see some bad reviews. The idea of not being allowed to bring outside food into the room is a deal breaker. Any suggestions for a good family place? Maybe one of those apartments to rent? We like the Rue Cler and St. Germain areas the best. Thanks in advance.
I stayed with my kids (then age 9 and 11) in Paris at Hotel Britannique near Notre Dame and the Louvre. We're going back there this summer. It's a great place.
Thanks. Can I ask if you booked two rooms or one?
Hi Scott, We stayed at the Hotel de la Tulipe a few years back with two kids and loved it. It is in the Rue Cler area. The price was a bit high but you get two attached rooms (nice space!) with a double bed in each and one of the rooms also has an extra twin bed. (It's ideal for 5 people!) I believe there were two bathrooms, one with shower. The owner was SUPER nice, he was always willing to tell us how to catch the metro, call a taxi, etc. Very nice. Good luck! And really, no food in the rooms? I always would bring fruit, pastries, etc. in for the kids to munch on!
If costs matter to you, then an apartment is the only way to go with children. They don't have to be sushed all the time and you can easily grab your own groceries and cook easy nutritious meals and pack snacks. We stayed in an apartment for 5 just a two minute walk from Notre Dame and slept for $170/nt and ate for $60/day. PM me for the link. There are numerous past threads on apartments in Paris. Good for you for taking the children!!!
We stayed at Grand Levesque when my son was 8. We did bring a few snacks in but not much. We went in Feb and recall Rue Cler being great with a kid - we would sit outside at TriBeCa and son would run back and forth buying candy at Monoprix. We have never rented an aPartment as with just 3 of us (and no intention of cooking or hanging in the room too much) it doesn't fit our life style.
