Paris - travel from Gare du Nord to 7th Arr -- to CDG Airport

We're going to be arriving in Paris, at Gare du Nord. Our accommodations are in the 7th near Ave de la Bourdonnais and rue de Grenelle. We will be traveling with luggage, so I don't know if it's best to take 2 different RER trains, use the metro lines 4 & 8, or just take a cab. I know that sometimes switching at stations can involve stairways and long walks (which can be difficult with luggage). Does anyone have any advice about this and the costs for each? Also, does anyone have advice for travel from the 7th to CDG airport?

Two people: luggage: arriving by train.......Take a taxi. I've paid 15-20 Eu for a taxi ride between these points. It would depend on the time of day and amount of traffic. I still say.....take a taxi.

Just take a taxi, why stress yourself out right on arrival day. Remember, taxis charge one euro extra per bag off meter for luggage in trunk, this is legal and not them ripping you off. Once you have learned metro from sightseeing then you can decide if you want to take metro back to Gare du Nord when you leave ( or airport). Its easier to learn something when you aren't loaded with luggage.

Thanks for the information. I've used the metro a lot but not with luggage. The taxi does sound like the best way. We will be leaving out of CDG airport. What's the best recommended way to get there from the 7th Arr.? Do you know the cost?

Getting to CDG: Take Metro line 8 from either Ecole Militaire or La Tour Maubourg to Strasbourg - Saint-Denis. Take Metro line 4 to Gare du Nord. Take the RER B to either CDG 1 or CDG 2 TGV. The fare is €9.50.

Yes, search for les cars air france or air france coaches. They have a bus line that goes to the Invalides Air France bus terminal in the 7th out to CDG.

Tim, thanks for the information, but I have questions about your route to CDG airport. Does that route involve a lot of walking and stairways that would be cumbersome with luggage? Would it not be easier to take the RER C, at Pont de l'Alma, to the St. Michel stop, then change to the RER B, which would take you to CDG? Does anyone know if there is any type of airport shuttle or bus that goes straight to CDG airport, and what is the cost?

If the Pont d'Alma RER station isn't too much farther from your hotel than either the Ecole Militaire or La Tour Maubourg Metro stations, then it would make sense to travel to CDG from there because you'd have one less connection to make. FYI, Air France buses run between Invalides and Orly but not between Invalides and CDG. You could take Metro line 8 from either Ecole Militaire or La Tour Maubourg to Opera and the RoissyBus non-stop from there to CDG. During the day buses run every 15 minutes and the fare is €10.

I wanted to let you know that you all helped me a lot, and thank you. While searching for the Air France bus I found something called www.Paris-shuttle.com. They pick you up at your place and take you to CDG airport for 12.50 Euros! I think my family used them several years ago and it worked fine. I just couldn't remember who they were and if they still operated. If anyone has any up-to-date information on them, let me know. But I like the idea that we don't have to drag our luggage all over, and the price is quite reasonable.
