Paris transit action?

I read on trip advisor that there may be a "transit action" (possible strike) on June 13, 2009. I have not been able to confirm this via any news pages on-line. Has anyone else heard this information? How will this impact travel from the airport CDG) via the RER or Rossybus? Should we book a shuttle?

Hi Theresa,
I have been in Paris in the middle of labor actions on the Metro system before. These actions usually have a slowdown, not a stoppage of service. That said it can be a bother. When I was there the RER and the Rossybus was not affected. The next most affordable way to get from CDG to the hotel was the Shuttle van. See Rick's book for pricing. I took a taxi once that cost me about 50 euro... that was 4 years ago so check pricing again. While in Paris it was actually fun using alternative travel means. Make the most of it! I used the Bateau Bus frequently. It was really fun, one fee for all day long or one fee for a period of time. It travels up and down the Seine all day long where most of the important sights are! It was a really neat way to the see the city and get away from the crowds under the earth!

We were in Paris in October of 2007 when they had a major transit strike. It was supposed to be one day but I think it ended up lasting over a week. It really created quite a problem because Parisians really rely on the Metro. We were able to get the metro to a place we wanted to visit but we had to wait over 45 minutes and then I have never been crammed in with so many people in my life. Then when we tried to get the Metro back to our hotel it was "FERME" closed for the rest of the day. After almost an hour we finally were able to get an available taxi. The ride back which would normally take 10 minutes took over an hour due to traffic. The cab driver was livid even though his meter was clicking away! LOL. Now it is a "fond" memory but at the time it was really a pain.
Also I would definitely book the shuttle to the airport. They are really very prompt and reliable.

Thanks so much. We will definately look into booking a shuttle to lessen the stress of our first morning. Thanks for the suggestion and advice on how to cope if there does happen to be a strike (still no news that I can find so I am hoping that "no news is good news!)

No strike has been announced for that date by the reliable sources Paris Transport Strikes and Disruptions Blogger or Tout Paris

There is a strike on one line (RER line "A") on 8th June.

On the date you mention, the Concorde Metro station will be closed for works on the platforms. Otherwise service should be as normal.

If you have a source for the strike rumour please let me know!
