We are planning a one week trip from Paris to Switzerland. We think travel by train would be fun and less stressful that driving. We've seen winter pictures of the Glacier Express that runs from Zermatt to St Moritz. Thinking about heading to either of those towns and spend a night or two and then train over to the other one via Glacier Exp and stay another night or two then head back to Paris. Arrive Paris 18July early am and need to be back to Paris 23July-pm... Any other suggestions ? Enjoy local small attractions (day trips) and relaxing in small towns. Not sure Zermatt or St Moritz in summer fit that description.
Anyone have any ideas...

Ans) You want beautiful scenery then head for the Interlaken area and go up into the Alpine villages (Mürren, Wengen). There will be plenty to see and do for 2 or 3 nights. Any other suggestions ? Ans) Yes - stay put and don't travel too far away for day trips. Stick to the sites that are around you. Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau, Schilthorn, Trummelbache Falls, Lauterbrunnen Valley. Enjoy local small attractions (day trips) and relaxing in small towns. Ans) Mürren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen is what you're looking for.
I agree with Tim. We took the Golden Pass when in the area. While nice, it had little on other routes in Switzerland. And the trade off: time in Lauterbrunnern/Muerren/Wengen area. Train to the Berner Oberland and spend your time there!
..and for the benefit of Randy: The Berner Oberland is where Mürren, Wengen, Lauterbrunnen Valley are located. If you want the idyllic Swiss experience this is the place to go.
Many thanks guys... You have both been a big help...
I need to check internet sites for these towns and figure where to stay but thanks to Tim, I've got instructions on how to make the train reservations !! I appreciate the help...
