paris-to normandy

Staying in Paris 7 days and wish to take day trip or trips to Normandy/ outskirts. Where would be time best spent: Mont St. Michel, Loire, D Day Beaches?

Hi Mary Jane: You have not said whether this is your first trip to Paris or not. My wife and I spent 5 days in Paris last spring, and wish we'd spent longer. But then, we had just come from Normandy where we also spent 5 days. One can never fit in everything. Are you renting a car or taking the train? I Have not been to Loire; Mont St. Michel you can do in a day, pushing it. but lots of walking. DDay Beaches stretch for over 50 miles; lots to see; you can spend a week there. I'd suggest minimum of two days; Bayeux is very centrally located, and beautiful small city itself (see the Bayeux Tapestry if you have time). There's a couple of good DDAy museums in Bayeux and Caen. You can also find some good tour groups based out of Bayeux that will hit the highlights of the beaches. Don't miss the American Cemetary at Omaha beach. Also a good small museum there. Whatever you decide, you'll have to skip some things for the next trip! I've been twice, and still need to go back! Have a great time!

It is my friend and my second time, but our husbands' first. We will have been around the country a week prior to Paris - Provence and Chamonix. I don't want to short change Paris.
