A friend will be going to Paris in about ten days. She would like to make a day trip to Luxembourg. What are her options for getting there and back? I assume that train would be her best bet. Any ideas on cost? She has the RS Paris book but would like actual experiences. Thanks for your help.
Paris-Luxembourg by train is about two hours each way. I don't know about cost, but she needs to go to tgv-europe.com and book NOW to have any chance of picking up any remaining cheap fares. You really should book long-distance trains about 90 days in advance to avoid paying high prices. I personally don't think there's enough in Luxembourg to make it worth spending four hours on a train from Paris, unless she has people she wants to meet there.
Hi, Depending on how far this day trip into Luxembourg is, take the early Paris-Metz TGV prior to 0800, transfer in Metz northwards in Lux. On the cost book it early to get a better price. In 2009 at the last min., I did a day trip Paris-Strasbourg using a Pass.
