Hello, I wanna travel to Lucerne from Paris with my wife and 2 sons, age 5yo and 3 yo,
i will b travelling in 1st class, as its the first time for me to travel in europe train so can u pls suggest me abt the seats i should choose as i want 4 of us to sit together around the table and my both sons to sit on the window.
Well there really is no way to ensure this! You'll be on two or three different trains and each rail company has a ion of different rolling stock and it really depends on what configuration is used on the day. For several weeks wagen 59 might be as you are seeking and on the very week you travel it might not, it's life. The only thing you can be sure of is window or gangway. There is no need to waste money on first class tickets for this journey, have a nice meal or something else instead. Also be aware that depending on when you travel first class may be more occupied than second class and noisy kids are often unwelcome in first class where business people are working...
Yes, traveling to Lucerne via Basel (change there to direct train to Lucerne), you can book 2nd class in a Family compartment http://tgv-lyria.en.voyages-sncf.com/en/travel-family
The Basel-Lucerne leg you can also book a compartment.
Yes, if the train has compartments and there is on free - most French and German trains have one or two such compartments and almost all Swiss trains between Basel and Lucern are open.
Thanks Jim and Sam for taking time to read my query and ur valuable replies, much appreciated.....
