Paris to Florence

I have a week to travel from Paris to Florence. Anybody have a suggested itinerary?

From Paris, south to Provence, see some of Provence. Then east through the Riviera and to Florence. Alternatively, from Paris southeast to Switzerland, see some of the Alps, then continue to Florence.
