We arrive in Paris at 9am after flying all night and wonder if it's to much to travel all the way to Chamonix that same day. Is it better to stop in Geneva or Lyon for a day to recover? Train vs. Ryan air?
For me the issue would be that a long train ride after an overnight flight would both leave me exhausted and completely disrupt my program for fighting jet lag. It would create a profound fatigue that would eat into several days of my trip. You may do better. But I'd look into flights to Geneva. By train no farther than Lyon. Or spend some time in Paris first.
The train journey will take 6-8hrs depending on the run you choose during the day. Expect two train changes along the way. Ryan Air is nowhere near Paris even though they list Paris-Beauvais. Beauvais is almost 1.5-2.0hrs away by bus. Also, I don't think there is an large airport in Chamonix. The closest would be Geneva. www.easyjet.com flies from Paris-CDG to Geneva. At Geneva, there is bus service to Chamonix. The bus runs every 45 minutes every day. Fare is 28Euro. Here's the link. http://www.chamexpress.com/?gclid=CNSr_5Cl4K0CFQI1hwodqDYHCQ
I've driven from Chamonix to Paris CDG in one day and it is a LOOOOONG day.
I'm not good at moving around much the day I land: what's your experience with jetlag? The idea about staying in Paris a day is a good one.
We have handled the jet lag fairly well in the past. Don't want to drive to Chamonix. We just would like to find the best way to get to Chamonix without a lot of delays. We are'nt sure if we should travel part of the way, and stay somewhere that would make the journey more efficient. Thanks for all the advice!
