Has anyone visited the Chateau at Malmaison (Josephine's home)? Rick doesn't mention it but I hear her home is lovely as well as the gardens. It appears we have to take the RER Line A to La Defense then take Bus #258 to "Le Chateau" stop. But I can't find out how often the bus runs.
I've checked on the RATP website and they are every 10 minutes or less Mon-Fri, every 15 minutes or less on Sat and around every 20 minutes on Sun. So don't worry, it's not one of those "three buses per day" situations.
Thanks so much. This is our 4th trip to Paris but we didn't want to waste too much time on a short trip without more information.
And there's a pretty decent restaurant at the foot of the "allée" that leads up to the Chateau. You'll see it when you got off the bus. The chateau is charming, not very large and there are seldom many visitors so you can take your time and see everything properly.
Good tip. Do you happen to remember if the entry fee was reasonable?
Malmaison is worth a visit, 6 euros to get in per the website. Be sure to see the gardens too. Josephine was a rose collector and when I was there in 2010, they were in the process of restoring her garden. The house is lovely.
