I would like to do this my last night in Paris, Sept. 30. Is this a tourist trap thing to watch out for? Any suggestions or pitfalls? Cruise company recommendations?
Ride the boat; don't eat. It's that simple.
The boats are worth doing, particularly at night with all the lights. Dinners are way overpriced. Get a nice meal somewhere nearby and then wander on down for your boat tour.
There's a tour group called Paris Trip that takes you to the Champs Elysees to dine (at Chez Clement) and then takes you on a Seine River Cruise. I suggest that, if you want something a little romantic.
Agree with the other posters - do take the cruise (we did) but do not eat on the dinner cruise (overpriced and only average food at best) and have a nice meal elsewhere (we did) - have a good time.
Scott,
my wife and I took the night dinner cruise two years ago and we had a great time. it was one of our most memorable travel experiences. it is pricey but we thought the food was good and the views as night falls over the city are really nice. the prices differ as to what type of seat you get (along the window is more). we sat on the left side and had great views of notre dame and more. I recommend it. Search for the website for Bateaux-Mouches for more information. good luck. Greg
