Paris Romantic Restaurants

My wife and I have been to Paris many times, but on this trip we are doing it first class. I am looking for a very romantic restaurant in Paris along with other ideas that are unique and romantic.

My husband and I never eat in unique or romantic restaurants when we are in Paris (we are usually very frugal, otherwise we could not travel) but next month we have a reservation at La Fermette Marbeuf to mark a special birthday. You will be entranced by their website. I think the restaurant at the top of the Pompidou looks romantic, too. It is called "Georges" and I imagine that on the outdoor terrace the view must be spectacular.

My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Au Cadet de Gascogne in Montmartre, located on Place du Tertre. The food was average for Paris brasserie fair, which is to say, probably better than the food at 95% of American restaurants. But we really enjoyed the cozy ambience of the place, and the night we ate there, an ensemble was playing just the type of live music you would expect in such an establishment.

Norma:

My husband and I ate at Fermette Marbeuf during our first Paris trip in 2007. It was wonderful! Beautiful restaurant with Art Deco stained glass everywhere and great food. Very romantic. We were seated at a quiet corner table.

The staff was extremely nice and everyone spoke very good English -- I was even complimented when I ordered in my very basic "high school" French.

Enjoy.

Thank you, Jacquie! It pleases me to know you really enjoyed it and I will post back here after we get home.

Note to self: Make notes on what we eat and the prices.

Well, if money is definitely no object -- I'd recommend Le Grand Vefour.

If money is no issue, well..... what would be a more romantic place for a dinner than the Eiffel Tower?!

Check out "Le Jules Verne" and its contemporary cuisine with the most beautiful view.

Note that a reservation should be made approx. 3 months ahead of time.

Another place I can highly recommend (which is also a little bit better on the budget) is the "Le Train Bleu" restaurant inside the Gare de Lyon train station. I would probably never have guessed to find a good restaurant in such location if it was not for somebody who took me there. It was built for the world exhibit in 1900 and the interior was as impressive as the food. Two thumbs up!

By the way, if you have not done it yet, visit Sacre Coeur before the sun goes down and enjoy the wonderful view.

La fermette marbeuf is all that others are saying... ask for the special room of art deco glass when you reserve... the prices (Fall 2006) included a 30 prix fixe for three courses and wonderful choices... the wine list had a range of prices including reasonable...your hosts couldn't be more accomodating.
