This is probably a dumb question but six of us are going to Paris in July. I know we will look like some small tour group when we hit restaurants. We have an apartment but will go out for dinner on occasion and feel we better make reservations. So long story short when calling to make the reservations should we use a 24 hour clock time i.e. dinner at 20 hours or stick to a 12 hour one i.e. dinner at 8?
It's best to use the 24 hour clock system when communicating with the French (and other Europeans).
Kent,
Thanks I kind of thought that but one never knows. I'd hate to think I'd made a reservation for 8 at night and have them laugh thinking I wanted dinner in the morning.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" That includes Paris. I have a digital watch that I set to the 24 mode when I get on the plane. Part of the transition to European life style.
